ไม้ล้มลุก สูงได้ถึง 1 เมตร ลำต้นและกิ่งก้านมีขนปกคลุม หนาแน่น ใบ เดี่ยว รูปไข่ถึงรูปรีแกมขอบขนาน กว้าง 1.5-4 ซม. ยาว 3-7 ซม. ผิวใบมีขนทั้งสองด้าน หูใบติดคงทน ดอก สีเหลือง ออกเป็นช่อตรงซอกใบหรือปลายกิ่งยาว 3-15 ซม. กลีบรองดอก ปลายแยกเป็น 2 ปากเว้าลึก มีขนสีออกแดงหนาแน่น กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ กลีบบนแผ่รูปรี กลีบข้าง รูปขอบขนาน กลีบล่างเชื่อม เป็นรูปท้องเรือ ปลายกลีบเป็นจงอย เกสรผู้ 10 อัน รังไข่รูปขอบขนาน ผิวเกลี้ยง ผล เป็นฝัก รูปขอบขนาน กว้าง 0.8 ซม. ยาว 2.5-3 ซม. เมล็ดรูปหัวใจเบี้ยว ขนาดเล็ก
Herb, up to 1 m high; stem and branches densely pubescent. Leaves simple, ovate to elliptic-oblong, 3-7 cm long by 1.5-4 cm wide, pubescent on both surfaces. Inflorescence elongated terminal raceme or leaf-opposed, 3-15 cm long. Flowers yellow, pea-shaped; calyx 5, deeply bilabiate, divided nearly to the base, villous-ferruginous; corolla 5, standard broadly elliptic, wings oblong, keel curved and beaked; stamens 10, monadelphous; ovary oblong, glabrous. Pod oblong, inflated, 2.5-3 cm long, ca 0.8 cm wide. Seeds unequal, small, cordate in outline.
